Such rituals often involve a great deal of magical power and can be quite dangerous to the untrained practitioner. * Transfer Portals: A Portal is an artificially-created nexus of arcane power that is set in stone or earth. Deryni have the ability to access the nexus and use its energy to instantly transport themselves to other nexuses in other locations. Each Portal has its own unique energy signature (or coordinates), so a Deryni must be familiar with the coordinates of his/her intended destination to be able to use a Portal. History: Brice was born to well off British couple, was raised well and had a good education. His life was a bit dull, but exceedingly normal. He went to school, got his degrees and intended to follow his father's footsteps and go into local government. It started to derail when, against his parents wishes, he married a girl who got pregnant. The child was born when he was 22. Alison died when Art was 9 months old, from a suspected drug overdose. When the baby was two Brice took him to London for a long weekend. It was an impulsive decision and no one knew they'd gone. They were in the street when Brice had suffered an brain aneurysm. While he was unconsciousness in the street and Art wandered off - and into the museum they'd been headed for. By the time Brice woke up, Arthur was long gone. There hadn't been a kid with him when he was brought in, and no one seemed to know anything. Brice was frantic. The second he was well enough to be released from the hospital, he started looking in earnest. He knew absolutely nothing. He didn't know if Arthur had been kidnapped, killed or left to die in the street somewhere. Nothing. Years passed and the level of obsession waned and waxed, depending on what bit of information he had managed to get his hands on. He managed to finish a degree in law, in much longer than normal people take and between wild goose chases. He mostly managed that degree because he was doing massive amounts of legal research, anyway, and because his parents pushed him to do something. When his parents died and left him a fairly decent inheritance and he used it to fund his search, and he stopped working, but kept on digging. Twenty years and he dug, and pried, and bribed and threatened, until he got just enough information to be pointed in another, new, direction thanks to some unsealed records. He doesn't quite believe it, anymore, but there's enough in place that he's hopping a plane and heading for Tampa. He's got everything crossed and is trying hard not to hope too much. Because he's not sure he can do this again. He's running out of resources - financially and emotionally. History:Brion Donald Chinhil Urien Haldane, King of Gwyndedd, was born on the 21 of June in 1081 eldest son of Donal Blaine and Richendis. Married Jehane on January 6, 1104. Had Kelson and Rosane who died at birth. On November 1, 1095, in the absence of Prince Brion, King Donal Blaine gave four year old Morgan the means to induce the Haldane potentinal in Brion should the need ever arise. Brion suceeded his father on the 14 of November in 1095, but due to ill weather was not crowned until 24 of March in 1096 by Archbishop Paul III. He was knighted by his uncle Richard, Duke of Carthmoor on January 6, 1099. He made several state trips to the south from 1102-1103 and met Jehane at Millefleurs in the Summer of 1103. On the 13th of June in 1105 he went to put down the rebillion of Roroik III, Earl of Eastmarch. He was challgend by Hogan Gwernach the Marluk, Festiliac Pretender of Gwyneed and Duke of Tolan on the 21 of June. He was then assisted by Duke Alaraic Morgan of Corwyn to attain his Haldane potentional. He defeated and killed the Marluk in a Duel Arcane later that same day. The Queen Jehanna left the king on the 5th day of July to go into religious retreat at Saint Giles Abbey and did not return to Rhemth until fetched by the King on the 6th of Febuary 1106. On the 1st of December 1106, Brion led his forces into Meara to put down a rebellion by the Pretender Judhael and succeeded in capturing Prince Judheals' sons in law, who were executed for treason on January 1, 1107. On the 11 day of May in 1115 Brion knighted Sean Earl Derry at Rhemuth and later witnessed Sean's profession of service to Alaric Morgan. King Brion was slain on the plain on Candor Rhea near Rhemuth by the magic of the Festallic Pretender Charissa, daughter of the Marluk, on the 1st of November in 1120 and was buried in the tomb of his ancestors at Saint Geoge's Catherdral in Rhemuth. He was 39 years old at the time of his death. In the Chronicles of the Deryni he is described as "Dark, lean, with just a touch of grey beginning to show at his temples, precise black beard...wide grey eyes..
